Admissions
School Admission Process
An Inquiry is made via our website or direct contact with the school, phone, or email.
The FAEC team completes an inquiry follow-up within 1-2 business days.
Referral and Initial Contact: The process usually starts with the student's home school IEP team (Individualized Education Program team) determining that a therapeutic day school is the most appropriate placement for the student. The school district then refers the student to a therapeutic day school, often by sending an information packet.
Documents will be reviewed to determine if placement at FAEC is appropriate.
School Visit and Assessment:
- Tour & Meeting: School schedules a visit for parents and student to explore the facility and meet administrators.
- Home/School Observation: School may visit the student's home or current school to observe them in their natural environment.
- Evaluations: School may conduct its own assessments or review independent evaluations to understand the student's needs.
Eligibility Determination and Placement: The IEP team, including parents and school representatives, determines if the student is eligible for special education and related services. If deemed eligible and the school is a good fit, the IEP team will develop an IEP (Individualized Education Program) outlining the student's specific needs and services. The district, parents, and school agree on a start date and transportation arrangements.
Intake Meeting and Transition: An intake meeting is held where parents and the student meet the staff who will be part of the classroom team. The meeting provides an opportunity to discuss the concerns leading to the placement and develop an initial plan for the transition.
